Enhance user interaction and get qualitative inputs

Withings designs innovative connected devices to track your health data effortlessly. These important health metrics are sent to the Withings App for you to understand and analyze.

The combination of different ways to measure health in everyday items like watches and scales improves our understanding of personal health. But there's room for improvement, specifically by adding qualitative information. This means prompting users to provide more context about a measurement. This approach helps understand the reasons behind measurements and the impact of specific actions more accurately.

Imagine waking up after a night of sleep whilst wearing ScanWatch. The Withings app shows that your sleep score isn't great based on factors like sleep duration and depth. But what if you feel really refreshed? Should the score be low if you feel good? By logging the feeling, we can help users determine what actions are working best for them.

The editor is made out of 2 different edition modes, a content one and a logic one to branch out content to each others. This is based on other survey SaaS like typeform, content teams are used to.

This is how a survey .json file looks. People from CRM used to modify it with code editors, truly. They now love this new tool.

Results

Introducing a Survey System to both web and native apps marked a significant milestone in elevating the app experience. This pivotal tool seamlessly integrates into various features, such as Programs, Onboarding, and Installations, thereby potentially expediting the development of forthcoming functionalities.

Moreover, its implementation opened avenues for our teams to conduct clinical studies and solicit health-related insights directly from users. This capability was unattainable through platforms like Typeform or other external companies due to concerns about data security and utilization practices.

The journey of spearheading this internally developed survey tool was no small feat, given its lack of prior prioritization. In response, I took the initiative to work on it during my personal time at Withings. As both the designer and product manager for this release, I meticulously oversaw the project's progression, maintaining clear and consistent communication with prospective users throughout the process.

From a day of work to an hour to produce a complex survey

The internal survey creator tool helps in the process of creating complex and bigger surveys compared to writing in a code editor or a JSON parser.

A tool used by all teams and empowering many other features

Initially thought CRM purposed, the new survey brick is now used in many programs, onboardings, and overall used to customize and get users feedbacks on many content.
